If you’re looking for the inside scoop on the best things to do in Queenstown, look no further. The concierges of Crowne Plaza Queenstown can help you find the best things to do, with the all the added tips and tricks that come with years of experience and an extensive knowledge of the area.
Tip #1: Come and Speak with the Concierges at the Start of Your Trip
“Be flexible with your trip,” says Concierge Luke. “By speaking with the Concierge on arrival we can advise what can often be cancelled and what is highly unlike to cancel- also what’s popular and needs to be booked in advanced.”
For example, Earnslaw meals are unlikely to be delayed or canceled and can be booked less in advance than activities like the Onsen Hotpools or Doubtful Sound Overnight cruises.
Tip #2: Order Ahead at Fergburger
“If you want to try the famous ‘Fergburger’ let us know before!” says concierge Francisco. “We can call and order for you, avoiding long queues!”
Tip #3: Play Disk Golf at the Queenstown Gardens
Concierge Courtney recommends playing Disc Golf at Queenstown Gardens. For only $5, you can rent a disk and enjoy a beautiful and tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle. She also recommends ‘Around the Basin Bike Tours,’ where visitors can bike around Queenstown on regular or electric bikes and even do wine tours.
Tip #4: Visit the local markets & lakefront stalls
Visit nearby Arrowtown’s local farmers market. It’s on every Sunday from 10am to 2pm and takes place on the gorgeous Library Green in historical Arrowntown. There’s also the Remarkables Park Market, complete with panoramic mountain views, local food and wine. It takes places in the Remarkables Shopping centre from 9am to 2pm every Saturday.
There’s also food stalls and buskers along the lakefront that are worth a visit.
Tip #5: Go on a Gourmet Scenic Wine Tour
Concierge Yagik’s must do’s include going on an Appellation Gourmet Scenic Wine Tour (which also happens to be one of our Lakeview partners), and soothing your soul at Nadi Wellness Spa.
Tip #6: Go Ice Skating
For the first time ever Queenstown’s local ice skating rink is open in the summer! Enjoy sliding along the ice and cool down in a unique way this summer.
Tip #7: Take a Hike
A free and popular activity to do in Queenstown is hiking. Just a few popular short walks in central Queenstown are Queenstown Hill, the Tiki Trail, Sawpit Gully, Mt Crichron and Lake Hayes Loop.
Tip #8: Do Your Research
“Guests are surprised that some activites only run during the summer months and are disappointed when they’re unable to take part out of season” says concierge Luke. “Avoid disappointment by doing a little research pre-arrival to get an idea of what’s available during each season of the year.”
